It would be understandable if Trevor Woodman succumbed to regrets, or even found himself consumed by them from time to time. After all, the evidence of what might have been is there, close at hand. This was a man whose playing prime was cruelly cut short. As a mobile, modern prop the Cornishman won 22 caps for England at loosehead and was in the front row during the glorious World Cup campaign of 2003. However, less than a year later, he suffered a back injury in training with new club Sale. After resting and waiting and hoping through various medical consultations, he gave up.
