- 2009 rugby classes kick off at Balcarras school in February half term
- Great holiday activity - hurry spaces still available!
Following a successful launch in 2008 that saw a few hundred children pass through Phil Vickery's school of Junior Rugby, the popular classes are back in 2009 with the first course happening at half term, at Balcarras School in Cheltenham on February 17-18.
This rugby course provides in-depth coachin g for children between the ages of 5 to 11 on all aspects of the game - from warming up to decision making and positional skills, counter attacking, rucking in attack and defence. The classes are great value for money and give children an intensive and thorough understanding of the game whilst having fun and entertainment during the school holidays! A result for kids and parents!
"I am passionate that the energy and interest that so many youngsters have for rugby should be developed at the grassroots level whenever possible. It's a great team sport that promotes discipline and fitness and our classes will give children a unique experience of the game that they won't forget," said Phil Vickery. "We need to see young talent coming up through the ranks and I am confident that the rugby class will go a long way to achieving this goal."
Phil is thrilled with the interest and uptake from youngsters at his classes which provide an environment to inspire and deve lop children's enthusiasm for this popular sport.
Andy Hamilton, Phil Vickery's Rugby Class Manager, said, "With Phil's talent and experience as a professional player and national captain, these classes offer the ultimate rugby experience for youngsters in the county. Unlike other courses, we take an holistic approach and deliver coaching on weight training, sports psychology and nutrition - inspired and endorsed by our world class scrummager."
