Rugby Star in television off- road drama

Rugby star Phil Vickery will be getting great publicity for his clothing company Raging Bull when he takes up a sporting challenge with a difference on Monday night.

The England captain and former Gloucester hero, who also moonlights as the figurehead of Gloucestershire-based clothing company Raging Bull, will be featured on Channel 5's motoring show Fifth Gear racing champion driver and presenter Jason Plato around an off-road circuit.

Monday's show will feature an interview with Vickery and footage of the challenge, which saw the pair put a Mitsubishi L200 truck through its paces.

"Filming an off road experience with Fifth Gear for the day at Bruntingthorpe was great fun and a real experience. First of all Jason Plato and I were driven around the off road course by our 4 X 4 instructor Pat and then I took over with Jason as my passenger before Jason got behind the wheel," said Mr Vickery.

The publicity is of course all welcomed by the county-based business, named after Vickery's nickname within the game, which launched its new range of clothing on the eve of the current Six Nations rugby tournament and is gradually raising its profile.

Last autumn Mitsubishi Motors UK, in partnership with Vickery's Churchham-based company, launched a special edition L200 pick-up emblazoned with the Raging Bull legend - the type used on tonight's show.

And Colt Cars Mid-West, Mitsubishi Motors UK's own dealer group, has also announced a clothing deal with the sportswear business.

Shannon Mercer, managing director at Raging Bull, said: "Raging Bull is a local clothing company with our roots firmly established in Gloucestershire. The company is growing in strength with the recent launch of the latest leisurewear collection and with more and more retailers recognising the potential of the brand and stocking our new label. "Raging Bull is making good inroads into the competitive clothing market and with our next leisurewear collection out in Autumn 08 we have high hopes of this increasing."

Tuesday night (March 4) will also see the team from Raging Bull, including Vickery, attend the opening of new brand name menswear store Hayden Taylor in Westgate Street, Gloucester which will stock the clothing range.
